Where is the outrage against the Issa Postal bill?

A couple of weeks ago, the House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee adopted the most anti-business bill imaginable, targeting a $1.3 trillion industry that employs 7 million to 8 million American workers with a destructively counter-productive bill called the Postal Reform Act of 2011.  Although H.R. 2309 is squarely aimed at the half million mostly working-class Americans who work for the U. S. Postal Service, the bill would devastate tens of thousands of businesses – financial service providers, paper manufacturers, advertisers, printers, publishers, online merchants and pharmacy benefit managers – that rely on the Postal Service to make a profit.  Put simply, it would destroy the USPS. The reaction:  Silence.  Jaw-dropping silence.

On Oct. 13, the Committee passed a bill that creates two new unelected and unaccountable government boards made up of people with no knowledge of our industry to dictate a top-down dismantling of an invaluable part of the nation’s economic and financial infrastructure.  Not a peep is heard.  A group of largely junior legislators who have no expertise in our industry follow the lead of some auditors on loan from the Government Accountability Office to radically restructure an enormous American industry from the clueless comfort of Washington, DC, and the business community goes mute.  Astounding.   A chaotic mark-up results in the adoption of one irrational amendment after another and the mailing industry yawns.  Mind boggling.

  1. McCain jokes about low appoval ratings for congress hit an all time low of 9%.

In 2012 show him just how much of a joke it is!

Time these a$$holes are to be held acountable

  2. we CAN’T LOSE our post office. It is HARD with the LACK OF JOBS here. If they shutdown the post office it will make the lack of jobs even harder for everyone!!!! Please from everyone that relays on the post office for financial or non-financial resources. DON”T SHUT IT DOWN in tucson Arizona.

  3. Any decrease in vacation or sick leave would mean a significant increase in workers comp. All of you out there who have been doing this for years know what I’m talking about. There are days when you wake up and your knees or back just flip you off and refuse to cooperate. It is all the wear and tear of doing the stairmaster with all this stuff on your back and in both arms in the freezing cold and the extreme heats of summer. Don’t forget that under federal law regardless of where you work your employer must cover on the job injuries, we’ve been dumb enough to use personal vacation and sick leave for these on the job injuries.

  4. Imo they wont be running for the doors, maybe not even a trickle.

No way near a hundred twenty thousand with such an offer.

You might have people pay you that much to get a job with 5 wks vacation, 13 sick days and 10 paid holidays a year, at which you can work the holiday and get extra cash or a extra day added on to your 5 week vacation.

Along with medical plans an a retirement that pays 2% of your base pay up to 80% with unused sick days added on top of that, CSRS of course.

You can save 440 hours a year vacation time at which you can cash it in at the time you wish to retire? Has it gone up since? I dont know so many changes going on.

Sick days you could have hundreds even thousands of hours added to the 80% retirement slushey.

And you know no CSRS at this stage of the game is making under $51K a year.

Add in nite diff and some sunday $$$$ pay.

$10K an 6% added? Trickle Trickle Trickle imo.

    TRICK OR TREAT?

  5. The Poor small post offices are being singled out for closure and citizens offered contract rural delivery service while the Postal Service maintains the rural delivery service is comparable to the post office they have been accustomed to. Hog wash, the savings will amount to a minute figure in the total postal budget. When will someone, Congress, go into the postal headquarters building and find out what all that excess of personnel is doing and at the same time weed out the excess personnel at the district offices or best eliminate most of them. The bureacracy that has evolved since the Postal Reorganizational Act of 1970 is appalling and disgusting. How about looking into the salary of the PMG and other high officials and better yet, let’s have a list of the officials that were paid a bonus and how much last year. It is reported that former PMG Potter was given a going away gift of $250,000 for what, OIC of a failing organization. We are told he deserved that. what is Donahoe getting? Come on Congress seek out some answers to these questions.

  6. 10k? That wont even get me a spider happy meal.

Put another zero on my early out and a couple more years to boot.

  7. THE EARLY OUT IS COMING VERY SHORTLY. THEY WILL ADD UP TO 3 YEARS ON YOUR TIME IN AND ABOUT $10,000 IN CASH. YOU WILL HAVE UNTIL DEC-31 TO SAY YES OR NO. WE CAN FINALLY RETIRE, THOSE OF US WHO IT APPLIES TO. THE POST OFFICE WILL NEVER BE PRIVATE. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WILL BY A COMPANY BIG OR SMALL THAT DON’T SHOW A PROFIT. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS BREAK EVEN EVERY YEAR AND WE’LL BE OK. THOSE FAT RICH,SELFISH,CORPORATE SCUMBAGS DON’T INVEST IN ANYTHING THAT CAN’T MAKE THEM GAZILLIONS IN PROFIT.

  8. Some people are very willing to suport Issa’s bill because they think it won;t affect them . As far as they are concerned anyone who is a member of a labor union is a second class citizen . I suspect there is jealousy in play also because postal employees earn a good wage and have good benifits. Fact is many of these postal workers are exposed to extreme weather conditions from bitter cold , snow ,ice to severe heat and storms , but they still perform their jobs . Another fact many people may not know or care about for that matter; is that the USPS is the largest single empoyer of Veterans in the U.S. For those of you who don’t know what a Veteran is He or She is a person who at some point in time signed a blank check payable to The United States Of America for an amount up to and including thelr lives to serve and defend our country. Now do you really want to put these people out of work ?

  9. “meaning you will not be hearing the truth on the media”

Like on the Fox news network? (AGENDAS) Wall street, Issa/ Ross the PMG all want it “their way” with their own agendas at the cost of the rights and freedoms of others?

Is this whats happening? They dont want anyone voicing their opinions against their (agendas)?

singing their song to the wide open spaces
singing their hearts out to the infinite sea
singing their visions to the sky high mountains
singing their songs to the free?

For fear of losing our jobs and getting disciplined?

“There’s nothing to fear but fear itself”

WHO SAID THAT? IM GONNA GET YOU SUCKAS.

  10. The mailing news of the USPS -> A $1.3 trillion industry that employs 7 million to 8 million American workers with a destructively counter-productive bill called the Postal Reform Act of 2011.

  11. The same people that have an interest in privatizing the Postal Service, also either own or are substantial advertisers on these networks, meaning you will not be hearing the truth on the media. It is up to you as an employee or business partner with an interest in the welfare of the post office to get the word out. Frequently post links to websites like these and videos that tell the truth on your Facebook or YouTube comments. The truth is we will all be paying dearly within the year if you don’t wake up. Approach every last union member at your facility regardless of craft and implore them to do the same. Keep an eye out for your next anniversary date and leave the union, so that they get the message. I will personally be making up for either the lack of pay increase or reduction in salary by any means possible including stopping dues payments to a worthless personal agendad union. Our pay is being attacked, our benefits are being attacked, our workload is substantially increasing and our unions focus seems to be on preserving dues through preserving a six day delivery. You have all been left up the creek without a paddle by these bozos and it is time to demonstrate that we will not be surrendering to their desiebing methods and misconstrued explanations.

  12. many USPS employees have been censored now from discussing anything on social networks.. their fears are quieting them now .. the Unions must act as they are the Solidarity voice of the employees. Many fear losing their jobs and getting disciplined yet ISSA plan is going to do the exact same thing.. it is a no win situation unless the unions act and that means taking this all the way to the supreme court.

  13. Who’s there? Issa,

    Issa WHO?

Issa can you see? how i raped the postal employees, once so proudly they stood, until i came to their hoods.

With Ross in my behind, the tea baggers flying high, gave proof through the nite that our stance was not there.

Oh! gotta go my kid wants on.

  14. how are people supposed to know about this…it’s not reported on the news….most (95%) of postal employees don’t give a “—-“….most ordinary citizens won’t complain until they lose their door to door service ( by then it will be too late) and by then most postal employees will be making $12.00 an hour with no benefits(and 50% of them won’t be able to speak English to tell what’s left of their customers what’s going on) don’t laugh…within 3 years guaranteed
