The Postal Service’s announcement that there are no immediate plans to offer incentives or VERA to EAS employees will be received by some as a mixed message. We are aware that some EAS employees have been waiting for some time to take advantage of an incentive. On the other hand, there are other EAS employees who need to have a job, a job where they now work, close to their homes and families.
NAPS has been a leader the in the fight to keep processing facilities and post offices open to serve the American public. In this fight, we have been successful. As a result there will not be massive job losses in our ranks. NAPS believes that what we have accomplished is good for our members and good for our country.
Now that the Postal Service has determined there is no need to keep “landing spots” for impacted EAS employees, NAPS will emphasize the immediate need to fill vacant positions that exist throughout the country. We can no longer function with the number of vacancies we have in operations and these positions need to be filled now.
While we will be working to get vacant positions filled, and our members point to the postmasters who can take advantage of incentives and VERA’s, all must be mindful that there are large numbers of postmasters that may not be able to take advantage of the incentives and will have to make the hard decisions on where they will be able to work after their restructuring.
Had the Postal Service implemented their plans to close half of the processing facilities in the country, there would have been hundreds if not thousands of EAS employees faced with the decision of moving great distances to keep a job. If the Postal Service’s plans were initiated, our veterans would have been RIF’d because of the current rules on closure of competitive areas.
NAPS will continue our efforts to minimize the impact of the Postal Service’s consolidation plans on our members now and in the future. We will continue to do everything in our power to protect the interests of our members.
APWU says NO VERA until after a dues increase and other assorted dues assessments go thru!
HEY JEAN…EAT AAAAASSSS SUCCCKAAA
HEY JLR…. SHOULD HAVE CHECKED ON YOUR STATUS A LITTLE EARLIER
THEN TEN YEARS BUT THEN AGAIN NONE OF US KNEW HOW SREWED UP THE P.O WAS WHEN IT CAME TO MGMT…WE SHOULD ALL WRITE ISSA AND
ASK HIM TO ADD TO HIS BILL TO RELEASE ANY MGMT WITHOUT A COLLEGE DEGREE AND TO HIRE NEW MANAGERS ONLY WITH A BUISNESS DEGREE…
I’LL BET YOU THE NEW CROP OF MGMT COULD TURN THIS BAG OG B.S. AROUND
I see the comments of Tired of The Crap made on Thursday at 5:04 PM is telling the truth. Here in the area I work at the Postal Inspection had to take out relatives that were illegaly put into to work from casual positions to PTF. Some of those are supervisors at this time and were not able to be taken out. Some other personnel employees got all their relatives in to work including the Personnel Manager at the time, his daughter none veteran, from casual to PTF and now a manager. When you go to GPO the best positions and higher ranking are all relatives. Many of them aren’t even Veterans and got in the USPS before Veterans with a 10 point disabliity. I myself had to wait 10 years as a disabled Veteran before I got in. I then had to catch the Postmaster back in 1984 while he was going home outside in the parking lot and ask him about my status to enter the Postal Service. He checked my files and the secretaries at Personnel said I had been misfiled in back of other people and was finally the next to go into the USPS. After a few years of Service, I found out the personnel people down here were placing their relatives instead. I believe very much in what Tired of the Crap is saying having gone through the sam experience. I could not believe it was happening every place else.
Couldn’t of said it better Don.These clowns been living off the craft employees for way too long. They’re worried because they couldn’t do craft work in the first place,or didn’t want to work, and that’s why the became bosses.I haven’t seen a decent stupervisor at my office since the early 90’s.
….EMBRACE THE HORROR….
EAS stands for Eats All Shit, its what you haft do when you don’t have a union
I have to deal with management daily and I listen to them worrying about their jobs, and God forbid having to go back to the crafts. They make me sick! As a steward I never see them worrying about firing some one. They never show concern for their employees only pleasing the higher level bosses. They have no problem telling a craft employee he or she is going to be removed unless they tow the line. Now that it’s their jobs on the line the stupid idiots think people like me care and really want to listen to their troubles. Goes to show you how stupid they are, to think any one in a craft position gives a shit for them. I’m willing to bet that once they do get rid of a lot of them our business thrives. Good riddance to all of them! What do you do when you find a RIF’d boss on your front porch? You pay him for the pizza!
Excessing is your incentive!
Executive and Administrative Schedule = EAS jean
SEEMS THAT MANAGEMENT IS TAKING CARE OF THEIR OWN….PAY THE ONES READY TO RETIRE THEN PROMOTE THE ONES LEFT TO TAKE THEIR PLACE….MOSTLY FAMILY MEMBERS, WHICH IS WHY THE POSTAL SERVICE IS AS SCREWWED UP AS IT IS ….EVER NOTICE HOW EVERYONE IN MANAGEMENT IS EITHER RELATED BY BLOOD OR MARRIAGE
Soooo whats the problem….close the facilities, vera all who are elligble, revert all who are left into craft positions(at the bottom of seniority) and get on with getting the mail delivered…….
What does eas stand for?
Lock down the place who the hell care !! what we need is a Wall Street CEO; TO MUCH TALK ;WHO AT TOP.
This whole thing is nothing but one big CLUSTER XXXX….. Did we really expect anything different?
told you so!
all of this never made any sense to me .. LIES LIES LIES .. just to keep people hanging
Here we want to close the Evil Empire down, we have jobs, VERA the clerks and take them!,
