May 12 marks an important milestone ? the 20th anniversary of the annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive.
To help make this year’s drive the most successful ever, the external 2012 Stamp Out Hunger website is up and running. The site contains valuable resources, such as press materials, public service announcements, planning timelines, contact sheets and more, that can easily be customized and downloaded to help increase awareness about local food drive activities.
The Stamp Out Hunger drive is the largest one-day food collection event in the nation. More than 70 million pounds of food donations were collected in 2011 ? making it the eighth consecutive year that the 70 million-pound mark was eclipsed.
USPS is encouraging full support of the annual food drive and urging customers to place a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods next to their mailboxes prior to regular mail delivery Saturday, May 12.
