To give customers greater convenience and generate new retail revenue and cash during the holiday shipping season, the Postal Service will expand the American Express Gift Cards sales program to an additional 3,000 Post Offices starting this week.
With the expansion, customers now will be able to purchase and mail gift cards at nearly 5,000 Post Offices. Surveys indicate that 60 percent of all gift cards usually are sold in November and December. Also, 77 percent of consumers are planning to buy at least one gift card during the 2011 holiday season.
“Offering gift cards at just the right time so customers can mail them in their letters and packages creates greater convenience,” said Steven Mills, manager, Retail Products.
To help the new offices kick off the gift cards program, the Postal Service has compiled launch details, frequently asked questions and other pertinent information in a Gift Card Launch Packet.
