PMG Pat Donahoe has announced the selection of David Fields as Vice President, Area Operations, Capital Metro Area. Fields has been acting in this position since January.
Fields began his USPS career in 1981 as a letter sorting machine operator in Bristol, TN. Prior to his current assignment, he served as District manager of the Mid-Carolinas, Greensboro and Hawkeye districts. He also has served as a manager, Operations Support, in the Midwest Area (St. Louis); senior plant manager in Chicago; and director, Field Operations, in the Northern Illinois District. Fields is a former Postmaster of Fredericksburg, VA, and was a director, Marketing and Communications, in Roanoke, VA.
Fields earned a master of business administration degree from the McColl School of Business at Queens Univesity in Charlotte, NC. In 1996, he was awarded the USPS Diversity Award and Board of Governors Award. In 2008, he received the Deputy Postmaster General Award.
