USPS Closes Ohio Post Office But Will Continue Lease Payments For 4 Years

The U.S. Postal Service has decided to close its Dueber Station at 220 Dueber Ave. SW  in Canton, Ohio on June 17.

But the Postal Service will continue to pay its lease there through September 2015, said John Alden of  Geyersville, Calif., owner of the strip center that houses the station. He’s looking for a tenant to sublet the property.

  1. for those that want to know the lease was for 6 years at 80,000 per year the p.o. moved the carriers out 4 months after renewing the lease !! the manager left to become p.m. else where and supv. got another position .

  2. Isn’t the reason for shutting down an office is to save money? But, that’s the postal way, just throw money away. IT would probably be cheaper in the long run to just break the lease, pay a penalty and still come out saving money. But NO… the USPS wants to waste money so it makes perfect sense to just go ahead and pay for 4 more years and not use the facility at all. If you are going to pay for it, at least use it if nothing more than for storage. If this were a public owned company or tax dollar recipient you’d be hearing about this on the NBC NIghtly News on their Fleecing of America segment.
