The U.S. Postal announced a change of “Emergency Lines of Succession,in case the postmaster general is incapacitated from an enemy attack or other national emergency, to perform the duties of the postmaster general.
USPS announced a change in the Administrative Support Manual (ASM) Section 286.1 to read as follows:
ASM Revision: Emergency Lines of Succession
Effective March 2, 2011, Administrative Support Manual (ASM), section 286.1 is revised to update the emergency lines of succession in the event the postmaster general is incapacitated from an enemy attack or other national emergency.

In case the postmaster general is incapacitated from an enemy attack or other national emergency, the following are the lines of succession to perform the duties of the postmaster general (see section 112.11):
a. Chief operating officer and executive vice president. (note::currently Megan Brennan)
b. Vice president, area operations, eastern area. (note: currently Jordan Small)
c. Vice president, area operations, western area. (note: currently Sylvester Black)
Previously the ASM listed the Deputy Postmaster General as next in line. This position is currently vacant:
Of all the nonsense with which they could ever occupy themselves this above all is a primary example of how out of touch the postal service is with reality! They say publicly that there is a financial crisis on the horizon that threatens their operations and they go before government committees pleading for relief and announce to the public proposed closings of post offices. They tell employees a reduction in force is likely and to ready ourselves for drastic changes that could effect our employment and now this! I can’t help thinking a bunch of people are running around headquarters with folded paper hats on their heads waving wooden swords in the air playing pirates and Donahoe leading them all!
Yeah, like anyone in the PO would even notice if ALL these people went missing.
