Hold For Pickup service is newly expanded. Previously available only to Express Mail customers, Hold For Pickup now is an option when shipping with Priority Mail, First-Class Mail Parcels and Parcel Select (barcoded nonpresort only). The newly expanded Hold For Pickup options may be requested by online customers — through Click-N-Ship or PC Postage vendors — and commercial customers. Express Mail Hold For Pickup remains the only option available to retail customers. The service is not available for international or APO/FPO/DPO destinations.
With Hold For Pickup, customers can designate a Post Office where they would like their shipments held for up to 15 calendar days — shipments are held 5 calendar days for Express Mail. Customers receive text or e-mail notifications when packages are ready for pickup and reminders when they haven’t been picked up or if the hold period is set to expire.
USPS believes the Hold For Pickup service is a great option for vacationers to ship items to a Post Office near their destination, or for college students to ship possessions to a Post Office near their dorms, or for customers who want sensitive items held at local Post Offices until they can pick them up.
“Hold For Pickup is a flexible way for customers to get their mail when — and where — they want it,” says Gary Reblin, vice president, Domestic Products. “It’s a simpler way to receive, at no additional cost to customers.”
