MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced today that WILLIAM ARTHUR WALKER, age 57 of Eufaula, Oklahoma was sentenced to 24 months of probation for Theft of Mail in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1709. WALKER was also ordered to pay a $1,000.00 fine.
Charges arose from an investigation by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General. WALKER pled guilty in August, 2010.
The Information alleged that on or about April 14, 2010, the defendant, an employee of the United States Postal Service in McAlester, Oklahoma, knowingly and unlawfully take and remove a piece of first class mail entrusted to him, with the intent to convert it to his own use.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing.
