USPS Reports $382 Million Loss For April 2010 And YTD Employee Bonus Payments

The US Postal Service filed its February 2010 (unaudited) preliminary financial report yesterday with the Postal Regulatory Commission. USPS reported a net income/ loss of $382 million. The total Fiscal Year to year loss is $2.3 billion ($592 million lost for the month of January, $179 Million gain the month of December; $255 million lost for November; $221 Million lost the month of October) . see full report via Postal Regulatory Commission

  1. It’s Called COOKING THE BOOKS!!! Everyone knows it, what I don’t understand is why nobody goes TO JAIL? (POTTER) Where is the OIG in the whole mess? I know that Management has been reported for changing color tags, dates, times and numbers running and re-running the MAIL to get more numbers.. Was there a spot in the chart for the OIG to get BONUSES? Just wondering, because when our contracts come up you know they are going to CRY BROKE and that it’s the craft employees who always cost the USPS so much money because we are so greedy. We do all of the work! and no it’s not just the clerks and carriers there are mail handlers and maintenance and mvs so those of you who think it’s just the clerks and carriers get over yourself, but as far as management if they got rid of 90% of you the USPS would run a whole lot better and I would even bet nobody would miss YOU.. If you are not working the mail, selling the mail, delivering the mail, fixing the machines that run the mail, keeping our buildings clean, driving our postal vehicles to bring our mail to the plants or the stations… You are NOT NEEDED! Why do we need an asst to an asst? And a VP of nothing for nobody to do nothing of a made up bullshit job! Why do we need so many PM? and MDO’S and acting MDO’s and station managers and PM of that same station why so many layers? We are so TOP HEAVY no wonder we are falling over! We need to start with FIREING PMG POTTER!! He has NO NEW IDEAS to GROW THE SERVICE.. I’m sorry how can you grow our service when you are always finding ways to CUT SERVICE????? GET RID OF HIM ASAP!!!! There are some good front line supervisors that have great people skills and who really do know what the hell they are doing, but top management don’t like those kind of supervisors what a shame because if we had more of them the PO just might have a fighting chance. those are the kind of Managers that are an asset to the PO the 10% I would keep get rid of the other 90%… POTTER AND HID FLUNKIES!!!

  2. Starting with POTTER he should be put in JAIL everyone with any sense know that management has ALWAYS COOKED THE BOOKS!!! You are all a bunch of LIARS!!!! and you know it but when it comes time for our contracts you will CRY BROKE!!! that the craft employees are what take up all of the budget and we are the reason the USPS is BROKE!!! I wish PRC Chairman Ruth Y Goldway could do something about this because I think she knows that the USPS HEADQUARTERS and PMG POTTER are LIARS and can see right through all of your lies and crap!!! and as for you GET IT STRAIGHT!!! get off your knees already management has no respect for you either! they are just using you too, as a door mat to get what they want and you must have gave it to them good!!! JERK so shut the hell up and go get your new knee pads the old ones are worn out! FIRE POTTER NOW!! HE WILL BE AND IS THE DOWNFALL OF THE USPS…. Come on CONGRESS and OBAMA WAKE UP!!!! before it’s to late!!

  3. As I understand it mgmt does not get overtime, but works all hours. Mgmt doesn’t get COLA or raises. The only way they get a raise is the merit system. Unlike all the crafts get all of their raises, step increases, cola and overtime. Yes you are right some mgmt do not deserve anything, but there are some that put in a fair days work and more. The Front line Supervisors for example. So lets not bash on all Mgmnt.

  4. Reading this you would think the carriers get paid 10.00/Hr or something. I may be wrong here but I think the carriers get paid more than a lot of College Graduates. I am sure that we can find someone that will do the job as well if not better than a lot of carriers without the complaining if you guys are so unhappy. One thing I found in the PO is that everyone is spoiled with knowing they could wake up every morning and go to work. You think you have it bad look around you their are people out their that are trying to support families that got laid off and here you are complaining about getting 20 more minutes added to your already short route. Please wake the hell up and come to reality. It’s not 20 years ago anymore people. BE THANKFUL YOU STILL HAVE A JOB AND STOP THE BITCHING. YOU ARE NOT OWED ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR PAYCHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. only at a company as backwards as the post office will they pay out millions of dollars in bonuses at a company that is on a pace to lose billions. I wish there was a way that congress could step in and overhaul this company but they aren’t run any better

  8. To set the record straight, supervisors and managers do not get “bonuses”. They get performance evaluations based on agency goals of reducing overtime, delivery before 1700, etc, and in this economy, very few are actually receiving any positive evaluations. EAS employees DO NOT get any cost of living or automatic raises like carriers and clerks. If they did, they would be getting ALOT more money than they do through the performance evaluations that are based on the craft employees doing their jobs.

  9. How does ANY company pay out bonuses when the company is running in the red ?
    Why did the bonus system not stop LAST year ?
    What is the Postmaster General doing to stop this? Oh, wait, he wants it to continue because he gets one. HOW does he vote himself a bonus?
    I GUESS THERE IS REALLY NO SURPRISE HERE, cONGRESS DOES THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. As I said in the past, Stop all bonuses, merit pay systems. Management does not deserve the monies paid out, for what? F%^&^&ing up. Miss Management is the cause of delayed mail which is the cause of loss revenue, along with grievance procedures due to abusive managers which is costing the Agency Each and every year. Arbitrators and Mediators cost $400.00 and hour. Think about it. Reduce abusive and ignorant managers and you will reduce monies spent on Mediators, Arbitrators, Lawyers, etc. Be in compliance with OSHA regulations and stop being lazy about it, this will reduce the fines against the agency. Most of all CEO’s Managers need to refrain from their lavish spending habits that is still going on. Large Screen 47 inch plus LCD TV’s in their office for what? While Swing rooms Locker rooms have 12 inch tv’s if they are lucky. Agency needs to treat craft employees better, this is more productive. Peace.

  12. And the USPS have upcoming contract negotiations with their unions that represent mailhandlers, letter carriers and clerks. What’s in it for us? A goose egg. All we hear management talk about is consolidation, excessing, layoffs, pay cuts, cuts in health insurance, incentiveless early outs and there’s probably others I can’t think of right now. It’s time manage took a hard look at how they are really losing money, instead of trying to correct it on our backs!!!!!

  13. LETS SEE HOW MANY MILLIONS WENT TO EAS..17MILLION. HOW MANY TO SUP…..5MILLION. HOW MUCH WENT TO THE ” WORKERS”? ZIPPO. ACTUALLY THEY ARE CUTTING ROUTES SO BAD THAT THE CARRIERS ARE LOOSING THOUSANDS! WHERE IS OUR BONUS? I AM GLAD THAT I AM CLOSE TO RETIREMENT BECAUSE THIS COMPANY IS GOING DOWN THE TOILET! WE ARE BROKE WHEN IT COMES TO PAY THE ONES THAT REALLY HANDLE THE MAIL!

  14. What are all these “performance” awards? Merit “Bonus” payments? Who is being paid for a job well done(well done?) when all they cry is LOSING MONEY, LOSING MONEY?? If this little “chart” alone doesn’t scream FOUL to the “powers that be” then nothing does……
