Postmaster General Jack Potter has announced the selection of John Edgar as vice president of Information Technology Solutions. He replaces George Wright, who retired this month after a 26-year career with the Postal Service.
In his new role, Edgar will be responsible for directing the design, development and delivery of IT systems and services to all lines of business in the Postal Service. This includes leading the nine customer-facing IT Portfolios in determining customer requirements and ensuring that IT provides technology leadership and support to the organization.
In addition, he will lead the IT Business Solutions Services organization to deliver business application/software development, enhancement and maintenance support services for our national systems.
Previously, Edgar was manager of Corporate IT Portfolios, leading IT efforts to implement the Intelligent Mail Barcode and Full-Service programs, and modernize usps.com and its suite of applications and services for consumers and small businesses.
Edgar is a graduate of Lehigh University and a licensed professional engineer. Recently, he received a USPS Postmaster General award for key contributions to the organization and was a Government Computer News Technology Leadership award winner.
