USPS FACES YEAR-END CASH SHORTFALL
SERVICES, PAYROLL WILL NOT BE INTERRUPTED
Without legislative relief to reduce its obligation to pay $5.4 billion to $5.8 billion annually to prefund retiree health benefits, the Postal Service this fiscal year faces a possible Sept. 30 cash shortfall of up to $700 million. But that shortfall, according to PMG Jack Potter, will not diminish the levels of customer service or threaten the agency’s ability to meet payroll.
