Illegal Immigrant Arrested While Delivering Mail

RIMROCK, Ariz. — The following is a press release from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office:

On Thursday March 12, 2009 at about 12:55 PM a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol in the area of Kimberley Way and Cornville Road in Rimrock, Arizona when he observed a 2001 silver Nissan being operated in a suspicious manner. As the vehicle passed him, the deputy noted that there was a “U.S. Mail” magnet attached to the rear of the vehicle. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, later identified as 35 year-old Sigifredo Parra-Reyes. Upon contact Mr. Parra-Reyes initially gave the deputy a false name. The deputy, who is Immigration and Customs 287G certified, pursued the identification inconsistencies and the immigration status with Mr. Parra-Reyes. He learned that Mr. Parra-Reyes was in this country illegally from Mexico. Mr. Parra-Reyes was subsequently arrested for False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer and Taking the Identity of Another.

The passenger in the car was identified as the registered owner, 35 year old Sybil Maria Rogers, of Rimrock. Ms. Rogers, who was doing contract postal delivery told the deputy that she was ill and had been letting her boyfriend, Parra-Reyes drive while she delivered the mail. She was released at the scene with no charges. Parra-Reyes was booked into the Camp Verde Jail on the local charges. An ICE Detainer was placed on him regarding his immigration status. A records check on Mr. Parra-Reyes indicated he had been deported twice before with one of those dates being in 2002 after being convicted of drug trafficking charges.
